John Busby Is A God

The Painter From Scotland Honored As Master Artist

Written by Todd Wilkinson (Authors Bio)

The other day, someone told me, "John Busby is a God!"  It was not meant literally, of course, but reverentially, though there are many people who believe Busby helps to elevate painting in general to a higher divine plain.  There can be no doubt.  Indeed, if any of us want to have a serious discussion about what wildlife art is, and what it can be, let's start the conversation by chatting about Busby's work.

Busby is the white-locked dean of avian painters in Europe and arguably, the world.  He deservedly receives verbal accolades from all corners.  And only recently, at the 2009 Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum's Bird in Art Show, he was honored before peers as a Master Artist.

Read our story in Wildlife Art Journal titled The Remarkable Mr. Busby .  But better than that, savor Busby's work, share it with your colleagues, talk about it.

Also read Barry Van Dusen's touching tribute to Busby and the impact he has on other nature artists, How One Man's View Changed Another Artist's Life (And Can Change Yours, Too) .

John Busby, congratulations;  yours is recognition justly deserved.
