Ewoud De Groot is known internationally as one of the rising stars of contemporary wildlife art. On June 8, he begins a series of shows with a one-man exhibition at Visions West Gallery in Bozeman, Montana (the world headquaterters of Wildlife Art Journal), then moves on to a major event at Gerald Peters Gallery in Santa Fe and is capped off later in summer with an opening at Astoria Fine Art in Jackson Hole.
We recently previewed his show at Visions West and it represents a fascinating, mesmerizing commencement. See the massive works 'Short-Eared Owl', 'Wading Moose' and 'Twilight Loon' below. We also will be offering a major feature story on De Groot so keep checking back. In the meantime, enjoy this Wildlife Art Journal Rough Cut film in which De Groot talks about his inspiration, his technique, his take on wildlife art and even on the prospects of wolves coming into Holland. A Pleasure to Watch

It's always a pleasure to watch an interview with an honest, and in this case humble, artist. Though I've been familiar with his work, at least in reproduction, for years I learned a lot more as I watched this.
thanks

A fascinating look into the whys and hows of deGroot's unique paintings.
When he talked about laying the painting on the floor and dripping paint Jackson Pollock came to mind.
There are many avenues to explore from the past and present.
'' I'm just a painter from the Netherlands " speaks of his humility but his searching, exploration and experimentation says he is much more than that.
