So Long Steve Jobs (1955-2011)

Stanford Commencement Address Shows That He Was Artist At Heart

Written by Todd Wilkinson (Authors Bio)

With the passing of Apple's Steve Jobs, there is just one question:  Do you know a single artist who doesn't work on a Mac?  Jobs understood how creative people think.

If you have the time, enjoy the (short) commencement address that Jobs delivered at Stanford University.  Share it with your elders and with any young people you know.  It's prescient and ominous. He spins a story of perseverance and following one's passion that all artists know in their hearts.  "Don't be trapped by dogma which is living with the results of other people's thinking," he said. "Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice.  And most of all have the courage to follow your heart and intuition....everything else is secondary."

His final departing message:  Stay Hungry.  Stay Foolish.
