Art As Witness To The Past, Art As Way To Think About The FutureHow can art crystalize an issue in ways that make it more visible, and therefore more embedded in the conscious awareness of society?

The work of the late Simon Combes shows us how.  Combes, a British-born wildlife artist who was raised in Kenya and adopted east Africa as his heartland, understood art's visceral importance.  Full-framed, close-up portrayals of lion, elephant, and the cavalcade of other iconic species pull us in, but they do not have the impact that a wider perspective does. All animals, even we humans, are a reflection of our environment.
