The query that Rachelle and Wes Siegrist get most often is "How can you paint so small?"

Indeed,  consider: a human tourist stands before a mighty sequoia or redwood tree a thousand years old and rising four stories into the sky.  Yet the human figure could fit easily inside the circumference of a penny, the mighty arboreal pillar narrower than the width of a pencil.  Every scene has a similar sense of magnetic bewilderment in its execution.

It’s a rare thing to have a husband-wife tandem so talented making their living as successful fine artists.  The Siegrists are part of a devoted age-old tradition of painters whose metier is distilling subjects in miniature;  sometimes creating heroically on canvasses no larger than a postage stamp.

Through March 13, 2011, the Siegrists have their work on display in a special exhibition at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson, Arizona, USA. Their work also is featured in a recent book, Exquisite Miniatures.  Rather than state the numerous details of their award-winning careers, enjoy having them, in their own words, explain what is important to them about miniature painting.  And visit their Webpage .
